The Barkas 1000 Classic is a solidly built Dutch steel motor yacht from 2011, built by Keikes Jachtbouw in Sneek to a design by Ing. L.M. Huitema. With her practical dimensions, comfortable layout and distinctive appearance, she is well suited for both extended stays on board and longer cruising.
A major feature of this yacht is the extensive professional refit carried out in 2025. The hull received three new coats of paint, followed by new antifouling in 2026. A new rubber rubbing strake was fitted, all windows were removed and resealed, and the double-glazed windows in aluminium frames provide good insulation. The ceilings were completely renewed, fitted with dimmable LED lighting and insulated with PIR foam. In addition, a large part of the hoses and electrical components were replaced.
The 100 hp Volkswagen Marine TDI 100-5 diesel engine was also completely overhauled in 2025. It was fully dismantled and rebuilt with new bearings and gaskets, the cylinder head was reconditioned, and the pumps and electrical components were replaced. Two new 12 V / 230 Ah batteries were installed in July 2026.
The yacht features hydraulic steering from both the inside and outside helm stations, together with a 10 hp electric Nobels bow thruster. Inside, the wheelhouse offers a dinette, galley and inside helm. Below deck there is a combined shower and toilet compartment, an open double berth beneath the saloon and an owner’s cabin in the bow with a double V-berth, providing four fixed berths in total.
The galley is equipped with an electric two-burner Inventum cooktop, combination oven/microwave and a Dometic refrigerator with freezer compartment. Comfort on board is enhanced by underfloor heating, a Kickspace heater, air conditioning and a 40-litre Webasto water heater.
The electrical installation includes a Victron Quattro 3000 VA inverter/charger, Fisher Panda 4000i generator, 120 A alternator and two solar panels with a combined output of approximately 360 W. Navigation equipment includes Raymarine instruments, Koden GPS, Class A AIS, Standard Horizon VHF and an onboard HP computer that can be used as a chartplotter and communicates with a display at the outside helm.
Deck equipment includes an electric Vetus anchor windlass, a new 30 kg stainless steel anchor with approximately 50 metres of new galvanised chain, stainless steel guardrails, an integrated swimming platform with synthetic teak, a folding swimming ladder and a new beige bimini.
Thanks to the extensive refit in 2025, complete engine overhaul and many renewed technical and cosmetic components, this Barkas 1000 Classic is a well-equipped and comfortable motor yacht in which considerable investment has been made in recent years.
